The Randolph Singers: Celebrating Over 40 Years!
The Randolph Singers was founded in 1968 by a dozen or so area residents when the local PTA wanted to sponsor a Broadway show to raise funds. The show they chose to perform was Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Pirates of Penzance.” Now, over forty years later, the Randolph Singers is generally comprised of 40 area residents from towns ranging from Montpelier to Norwich.
The Randolph Singers are a non-auditioned chorus, rehearse weekly and perform two concerts annually, in December and May. The Randolph Singers are led by director, singer, and performer Lindsey Warren of Norwich, Vermont; the accompanist is longtime musician and teacher Marta Borgstrom of Randolph. The Singers chorus is for anyone who loves to sing, wants to be a participating member of a community chorus, and is able to commit to attending regular rehearsals throughout the semester. Generally, the Singers perform two concerts each year. Regular rehearsals for the winter concert are held Tuesdays from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. from the beginning of September until the concert in December. Rehearsals for the spring concert are held at the same time from mid-January until the concert in late April or early May.
The mission of the Randolph Singers is to bring the love of music and singing and enjoyment from participating in a community chorus to its members through regular weekly rehearsals, and secondly, to enrich the cultural opportunities for the greater Randolph communities by performing its music at a minimum of two concerts annually, and always at a nominal cost or freewill donation so that everyone will have the opportunity to attend.
